Rejuran Hand Injection vs Injector Gun: How to Choose

Whether to inject Rejuran by hand or with an injector gun depends on whether the treatment area needs point-by-point adjustment and whether its size suits repeated injections with a multi-needle injector. I prefer hand injection, but that does not mean it is always less painful or more effective.

Watch out: “Injector gun” is not a single specification

Injector gun (in Taiwan often called a “water-glow gun”) is a general term for an injection method. It does not mean the same device, needle head or settings. Some multi-needle injectors use vacuum suction and allow the depth and dose per injection to be preset, but the actual features depend on the model. The label alone is not enough to conclude that it uses less product, hurts less or works better.

The two methods differ in how each injection is delivered

With hand injection, the physician places injections point by point and can adjust the depth at each spot during treatment. When skin thickness, contours or target areas differ, the question to ask is how the physician will adjust the injection position and depth.

An injector gun generally uses a multi-needle head to make several injection points at once, then repeats the injections based on its settings. Some devices first stabilize the skin with vacuum suction. Actual performance depends on the model, needle design, whether vacuum is used, and the depth and dose settings. These devices cannot all be treated as the same method.

Does the area need fine adjustment, or the coverage need repeated injections?

If you want to treat a smaller or more contoured area, or areas with clearly different skin thicknesses, ask how hand injection would be adjusted point by point. This advantage depends on the practitioner’s judgment and technique during treatment. It does not arise automatically just because the method is called hand injection.

If a larger area is planned, you can compare whether a multi-needle injector makes it easier to repeat injections with one set of settings. A larger area also means talking about the amount; see whether 2 cc of Rejuran is enough for a full face. But ease of repetition does not mean the same amount actually enters the skin at every point, or that every device is suitable for Rejuran. Ask which device and settings will be used, and why the practitioner chose it for that area.

If you are worried about pain, do not judge by the method name alone

Both methods put needles into the skin, and both can cause needle discomfort, bruising and temporary small bumps. At our clinic, we always apply numbing cream before Rejuran. If you are very concerned about pain, the numbing time can be extended or ice can be applied first.

Which method hurts more also depends on the number of needles, vacuum use, injection pace, treatment area and individual sensitivity. Without knowing the specific device and settings, pain cannot be ranked by the labels “injector gun” and “hand injection” alone. The method name also cannot rule out small bumps or bruising during recovery.

I prefer hand injection as a matter of treatment judgment

In my own practice, I prefer hand injection. It allows me to adjust the depth of each injection directly for different skin layers and better reduce product leakage as I work.

This is my personal preference for how I control the injections. It is not proof that every hand injection is better than an injector gun. What matters is the area being treated, its size, how the practitioner controls the depth and product, and what aspect of needle discomfort worries you most. Clarifying these conditions makes it possible to choose the injection method.

Injector devices and settings differ. The label alone cannot tell you the pain level, dose or results.

FAQ

Is Rejuran with an injector gun always less painful?
Not necessarily. Both methods use needles, and pain also depends on the device, settings, injection pace, anesthesia and individual sensitivity.
Do I have to choose an injector gun for a large Rejuran treatment area?
Not necessarily. A multi-needle injector makes repeated injections at preset settings easier, but the choice still depends on the area, device and practitioner's plan.
Are all Rejuran injector devices the same?
No. The model, needle head, vacuum method, depth and dose per injection may differ. Ask which specific device and settings will be used.
Does the director prefer Rejuran by hand or with an injector gun?
I prefer hand injection because I can adjust the depth for each skin layer and better reduce product leakage.
