With one visit, first decide which layer you want to change
You may have only one trip to Seoul and room for just one aesthetic treatment. To decide whether it is worthwhile, divide your expectations into two types. Do you want your skin to feel and look smoother, with firmness and tone improving along with it? Or are you mainly focused on deeper pitted scars and hoping the visible unevenness will flatten in this one session?
For the first goal, I think one session is worthwhile. Even one Virtue RF microneedling session may move texture, firmness and tone in a better direction as the skin goes through its overall repair process. This does not mean every pore will disappear, but being able to have only one session is not itself a reason to rule out the treatment.
Price and number of sessions
Our Virtue RF pores mode is ₩440,000 per session, including numbing cream. Listed prices exclude VAT, and 10% is added at payment, so the total is ₩484,000. The lifting and pigment-spot modes cost the same; for the other modes, see the price list.
The full course on our price list is one session every 3–4 weeks, 3–5 sessions in total. That is a reference for the whole course, not a sign that one session is meaningless. If you come only once, use the standard above to set the goal for this session, and decide whether to do more after seeing how your skin responds.
One session is unlikely to be enough for deep pitted scars and orange-peel texture
If deeper pitted scars bother you most, or a continuous area of pronounced unevenness makes the skin surface look like orange peel, my assessment of one session is more conservative. It is difficult to achieve enough change for this kind of goal in one session. Even if overall texture improves, that does not show that the deeper unevenness has been fully addressed.
“Orange-peel pores” describes an appearance. It is not a formal diagnosis or a category you can apply to yourself whenever you see pores. What you see may be pores or may include deeper pitted scars. That distinction directly affects my answer to whether one session is worthwhile.
I also do not set a fixed number of additional sessions for everyone before seeing the skin. It is more reasonable to set the goal of this session as overall skin quality, then assess the actual response after recovery, than to fix the number of sessions before the trip.
Do not judge the result the next day; assess this session at 4–6 weeks
Redness, warmth or mild swelling on the treatment day or the next day reflects skin recovery, not the final result. Our recovery guidance says that mild redness and small scabs may occur for about 2–3 days. Official Virtue RF patient information also notes that some fuller changes may take 4–6 weeks to become gradually visible.
I therefore use two time points for assessment. During the first 2–3 days, check whether the skin is recovering as expected. At 4–6 weeks, compare pores, skin texture and the overall condition under similar lighting and angles. This later assessment measures the response to this one session. It does not mean one session will flatten deep scars, and it does not mean everyone will change to the same degree.
How to plan makeup, photos and sightseeing the next day
Microneedles leave tiny openings in the skin during the first 24 hours. General guidance is to avoid makeup during this period. After 24 hours, check whether redness, warmth or small scabs remain and follow the instructions given for your skin after treatment. Do not pick the scabs, and avoid skincare with irritating ingredients and repeated rubbing.
You do not necessarily need to cancel the entire next day, but do not build the schedule around guaranteed makeup or close-up photography. Keep a flexible indoor itinerary. Avoid prolonged sun exposure and activities that make your face hot and sweaty, and use sun protection outdoors. If important photos cannot show red spots or small scabs, schedule them after our stated 2–3 day recovery period while allowing for the possibility that your recovery may take longer.
Allow enough time at the clinic as well. The visit takes about 1.5 hours including numbing cream, and the treatment itself takes about 30–40 minutes. Do not schedule your next booking or transportation based only on the device operating time.
During cold-weather travel, do not let cold wind blow directly against your face for long periods. This is something our clinic specifically advises: the skin has tiny openings during the first 24 hours, and direct cold wind can make dryness and redness more likely. Shorten outdoor transfers and avoid repeated rubbing from a scarf or mask instead of trying to pack the itinerary with sights.
A short recovery period does not mean zero risk
Mild redness and small scabs are common recovery reactions, but RF microneedling is still a medical procedure. The US FDA has received reports of serious adverse events across the RF microneedling category, including burns, scarring, fat loss and nerve damage. These reports cannot be used as the incidence rate for Virtue RF, but a short recovery period should not be understood as an absence of serious risk.
If pain, redness or swelling keeps worsening, or if blisters, unusual depressions or changes in sensation appear, do not push through the original sightseeing schedule. Contact the treating clinic promptly for assessment.
Watch out: Gold microneedling is a general label, not a device name
The term “gold microneedling” commonly refers to RF microneedling as a treatment category. It is not the formal name of one device. The device used at our clinic is Virtue RF microneedling.
Virtue RF is not another name for Potenza. They are different devices and should not be referred to interchangeably. When comparing clinics in Korea, ask for the actual device instead of asking only whether they offer “gold microneedling.” The assessment of one session in this article applies to Virtue RF.
Plan the goal and travel dates together when having one session
Use this standard to decide whether to have the treatment, then place the first 24 hours without makeup, the 2–3 days of visible recovery and the 4–6 week assessment point on your travel timeline. When you have only one session, choosing the right goal matters more than trying to fit every pore concern into it.
