How many vials of Sculptra do I need per session, and how many Sculptra treatments do I need in total?
At our clinic, Sculptra treatment usually uses 1–2 vials per session for 2–3 sessions at 4–6-week intervals. We do not fix the number of vials for every session at the outset. After each treatment, we assess how much collagen-related change has developed and decide how much is needed at the next session.
You may notice a change after just one treatment, and repeat treatments can produce a better result when needed. This means that “how many vials per session” and “how many treatments in total” are not numbers that must both be fixed at the beginning. They are decisions made from one session to the next. There is no basis for saying that adding more sessions will necessarily make the results last longer. For how to interpret the evidence on longevity, see When do Sculptra results appear, and how long do they last?. How many weeks should there be between Sculptra treatments?
At our clinic, Sculptra treatments are spaced 4–6 weeks apart, and we generally perform 2–3 sessions at this interval. The reason for spacing out the sessions is to assess the collagen-related change before deciding the amount for the next treatment.
The US instructions for use describe a regimen of up to four consecutive treatments at 3–4-week intervals. Because the two approaches use different numbers, do not combine them into a single rule such as “four treatments every three weeks” or “three treatments every six weeks for everyone.” Read them separately as the range in the US label and our clinic’s treatment policy.
How many cc are in one vial of Sculptra?
One vial of Sculptra is not supplied as a liquid containing a set number of cc. It is a dry powder that is reconstituted into a suspension by adding sterile water for injection. The answer to “how many cc are in one vial?” therefore depends on the final volume to which each clinic dilutes the vial.
At our clinic, we dilute one vial of Sculptra sufficiently to 8–10 mL. Because cc and mL are equivalent units of volume, one vial prepared using our method produces 8–10 cc of injectable suspension.
How do you convert cc on a Korean Sculptra price list into vials?
If a Korean Sculptra price list shows only cc, do not convert that number directly into a vial count. A vial is the number of product vials used, while cc may refer to the volume of the reconstituted suspension that is injected. They are not the same unit.
| Price-list wording | What it tells you | What it does not tell you |
|---|---|---|
| 1 vial | One actual vial of the product is used | The final number of cc to which the vial is diluted |
| 8 cc or 10 cc | This may be the volume of the reconstituted injectable suspension | The actual number of vials used |
| 1 vial diluted to 8–10 mL | The vial count and that clinic’s final dilution volume | Whether another clinic uses the same basis for its cc listing |
When comparing price lists, ask separately how many actual Sculptra vials are used and to how many mL each vial is diluted. At our clinic, one vial is diluted to 8–10 mL, but you should not apply this figure directly to the cc listed by another clinic. Our clinic’s price list uses vials rather than cc. One vial of Sculptra costs ₩1,000,000 before VAT (10% is added when you pay).
