The results still show, which is exactly when to talk about maintenance
Your contour is still holding up well since your last Ultherapy, and now it is time to think about the next one. It’s easy to think, “The results still show, so maybe I don’t need another.”
My view is that even while the results remain, you can continue care with maintenance as the goal. I generally recommend once a year, planned around the state of your face at the time. The results of one Ultherapy session mostly last around 12–18 months, though people differ, so coming back after about a year usually means the results are still there. The goal this time may not be to change much more, but to keep the state you like going. Treating every session as if it must produce a huge before-and-after difference makes it easy to overlook the value of maintenance itself.
This guide is about Ultherapy (Ulthera). Other devices such as the Korean-made Shurink are different machines, so don’t apply this interval to them directly.
What happens if you stop: I look at the face two years on
In my clinical observation, by about two years later the difference between people who kept up care and those who didn’t often shows on the face. That is why I recommend maintenance.
Over a short time, looking in the mirror, there may be no big gap between two sessions. Over a longer time, it becomes easier to see whether the contour you cared about has been looked after. The two years I mention is the time for observing long-term care, not an interval of “once every two years”.
Time the next session by your contour, not only the calendar
Once a year is a common rhythm, not a fixed date. When I decide on the next session, I look at whether the contour has started dropping again and whether the jawline has become blurred, rather than only counting months. Aiming for maintenance also doesn’t mean using more lines each time; each session is still planned around the state of your face at the time.
If you are planning your next trip to Korea, note down when you were last treated and which changes you most want to keep. That information makes the maintenance goal more concrete. When you need to compare options and costs, see Ultherapy prices and line counts in Korea, and think about the treatment goal separately from the option you buy.
