Ultherapy (Ulthera) is a lifting treatment that focuses ultrasound energy deep under the skin: the energy forms small thermal coagulation points in the SMAS fascia layer, prompting new collagen to form and contract, so your contours tighten gradually from the deep layer. We don’t sell a fixed package of lines up front. The plan and treatment area are decided only after the doctor has seen your face at the in-person consultation, and the same doctor handles the consultation, the treatment design and the treatment itself. If you have mild to moderate laxity and want your jawline and chin line to tighten gradually without surgery, this treatment is worth considering. If the sagging is already pronounced, or the fat and bone support under the chin have changed a lot, ultrasound alone can only move things so far, and the doctor will tell you so honestly.

1
At the consultation, the doctor uses DeepSEE imaging to see the layers under your skin and where the bone sits, and avoids the spots that are not suitable for treatment.
2
The number of lines is planned around your face: a full face usually takes 600 lines or more, and if only the jawline and double chin are treated, 300 lines is usually enough.
3
On the day, numbing cream goes on first, and the whole visit takes about 60–90 minutes including numbing. It feels like an achy, heavy pressure, and if you are worried about pain you can add nitrous oxide sedation.

Ultherapy or Thermage? How to Choose in Korea

If what bothers you most is jowls, sagging-type nasolabial folds and a contour that is dropping, I usually choose Ultherapy first. If it is laxity of the skin itself, fine lines and texture, I choose Thermage FLX first. The two overlap in effect, but the priority differs. Hollow nasolabial folds or hollow cheeks call for a separate discussion about restoring volume.

Can Hollow Cheeks Have Ultherapy? Will It Get More Hollow?

In general, Ultherapy can make cheeks more hollow. With good treatment design and more careful technique, though, this can be avoided. I work to keep the face from hollowing, so there is little need to worry. If the hollow was already present together with jowls, I treat the hollow lacking volume separately from the sagging area that still has fat. If the hollow appeared only after Ultherapy, do not add more lifting or fat reduction first; gather the treatment date, treated areas and before-and-after photos, and return to the clinic that performed the treatment for an assessment.

ONDA and Ultherapy Together? Same-Day Treatment and Order

ONDA microwave and Ultherapy can be done on the same day at our clinic, with no mandatory order. Both treatments work in part by raising skin temperature. Some additive effect may be expected when they are combined, but whether both are needed still depends on whether facial fullness and sagging are present together.

Can Ultherapy Improve Nasolabial Folds? Hollowing vs Sagging Above

Not always. I first work out whether the fold is a hollow caused by volume loss, or a line formed by subcutaneous fat sagging from above. The first needs volume put back. For the second, once I confirm the problem involves the SMAS (the fascia layer) and subcutaneous fat, I consider Ultherapy to treat the sagging above.

2026 HIFU vs RF: The Difference Between Ultherapy and Thermage

HIFU and RF mainly differ in their form of energy and heating pattern. Ultherapy uses focused ultrasound to create individual thermal coagulation points at selected depths, while Thermage FLX uses monopolar radiofrequency to heat a larger volume of tissue. The tissues they affect overlap, so they cannot be divided simply into HIFU for the SMAS and RF for the dermis.

2026 Ultherapy and Thermage Together: Can You Do Both Same Day?

Ultherapy and Thermage can usually be performed together on the same day, and our clinic generally schedules them in the same visit. Not everyone needs both devices. They are combined only when downward contours and loose skin are both clear concerns and each device has its own goal. If there is only one main concern, start with the corresponding treatment. A short stay in Korea does not require a fixed interval; the director decides the timing, areas and energy after an in-person consultation.

Genuine Ultherapy in Korea: How to Check Certification (2026)

To check genuine, manufacturer-certified Ultherapy in Korea, first switch the official Merz Korea list of clinics participating in genuine-product certification to English and search by the clinic's registered name or address. Then compare the booking details and the device label for Ultherapy (Ulthera) or Ultherapy PRIME. Read NFC, QR or DeepSEE screens only for the specific items they actually display.

How Often Should You Get Ultherapy? Every Year Even if It Still Shows?

Even while the results of Ultherapy (Ulthera) are still there, I recommend continuing care for maintenance, usually once a year. In my clinical observation, by about two years later the difference between people who kept up care and those who didn't often shows on the face. My aim is to keep your current state going, not only to treat once sagging becomes obvious.

How Many Ultherapy Lines for a Full Face? 300, 600 or 1,000

Ultherapy line counts need to be considered with the treatment area and depth distribution. At our clinic, 300 lines are usually planned for the lower face, while 600 lines usually cover the full face; if the neck is included too, I recommend adding more lines. A 1,000-line option is simply a larger specification. It is not necessary for everyone, and the total alone cannot show whether it is enough.

Ultherapy No Results: Wait, Failed, or Repeat Treatment?

Feeling that Ultherapy had no effect does not mean it has failed or should be repeated immediately. If it is still early, changes may still be developing. But 2–3 months is not a rigid deadline for declaring failure, and you do not have to wait if you are dissatisfied or develop new symptoms. Use photos taken under the same conditions and ask the original treatment clinic to reassess them together with the treatment date, device, areas, line count and original goal. This helps distinguish no overall change from a mismatched goal, a coverage or allocation issue, or residual sagging in one area.
