Same-day treatment is one way to schedule the procedures, not a fixed package. If the main issue is facial fullness without clear sagging, there is no need to add Ultherapy automatically just because ONDA is being done. Conversely, if the discussion stops at “the two can be done together” without first separating what each treatment is meant to address, it is difficult to judge whether the combination is meaningful.
Watch out: Being able to combine them does not mean everyone needs both
They can be done on the same day, with no mandatory order
ONDA uses microwave energy, while Ultherapy uses focused ultrasound. The forms of energy differ, but both treatments work in part by raising skin temperature. In my clinical planning, they can be completed on the same day, and neither one always has to come first. The order does not need to be fixed because both work by raising skin temperature, so which comes first is not the point of the decision; I set the order according to the areas planned that day and the overall flow.
For timing, ONDA for the full face takes about 20–30 minutes at our clinic and Ultherapy takes about 60–90 minutes including numbing, so the two together take about 80–120 minutes of treatment time, with the consultation on top of that. Specifications and fees for each are listed on our price list.
Some additive effect may be expected when they are combined. This does not mean that the result will always equal the sum of both treatments or that every face will do better than with one treatment alone. Whether to combine them still depends on whether each treatment has a clear goal.
Whether you need both depends on whether fat and sagging coexist
If your face has more fat and looks round overall, I more often use repeated ONDA treatments. When there is no clear sagging, ONDA can be the main treatment first, without making Ultherapy part of a fixed combination.
I look more closely at the jowls and the areas around the nasolabial folds. If these areas already sag, reducing fat alone can sometimes be like deflating a balloon: the volume decreases, but the looseness becomes more noticeable. I then include overall lifting in the plan, and Ultherapy is one option to consider.
People who both say their face looks big may have different patterns. One person may have clear fullness across the whole face, while another may have a lower face that is sagging downward. The first does not necessarily need both treatments. The second has more reason to combine them on the same day only when fat and sagging coexist. If your main concern is the chin and jawline, you can next read how to assess ONDA for a double chin in Korea and consider fat thickness and the distribution of laxity separately.
If you had a recent treatment, provide four details first
If you recently had another energy treatment, filler, thread lift or injection, provide the treatment, date, area and whether any reaction remains. These details affect which areas can be treated and how the day is planned. There is no universal minimum interval to apply between ONDA and Ultherapy in advance; I judge the plan from your current condition.
Also provide your arrival and departure dates for Korea and the timing of important photos or events. If both treatments have clear goals, they can be planned for the same day. If a particular area still has a reaction that needs assessment, the timing for that area is adjusted.
Ulthera’s official instructions for use state that temporary redness, swelling or tenderness may occur after treatment. Being able to return to daily activities does not mean your appearance in photos will necessarily be unchanged; if you have an important photo shoot, leave some extra time in your schedule.
FAQ
- Can ONDA microwave and Ultherapy be done on the same day?
- Yes. Our clinic can perform both on the same day, but we first confirm that each treatment has a clear goal to address.
- When they are done on the same day, which comes first: ONDA or Ultherapy?
- There is no fixed order. I arrange them according to the areas planned that day and the overall treatment flow.
- Which facial pattern is more likely to need both treatments assessed together?
- Both are more often assessed when facial fullness is clear and the jowls or areas around the nasolabial folds also sag.
- Can I combine them on the same day after recent energy treatment, filler or a thread lift?
- First provide the treatment, date, area and any current reaction. I will plan according to your condition at the time.
