ONDA microwave is a tightening treatment that sends microwave energy into the subcutaneous fat layer and the dermis, warming the fat cells while stimulating collagen remodeling so that your contours tighten. At our clinic, the energy (J) and treatment area are not a pre-packaged option. They are decided only after the doctor has seen your face at the in-person consultation, and the same doctor handles the consultation, the treatment design and the treatment itself. It suits people who are new to tightening treatments and want to start with a gentle energy-based option. If you are hoping for a change on the scale of a surgical facelift, this kind of microwave treatment is not the direction we would recommend.

How we do it hereONDA

ONDA microwave
ONDA microwave
1
At the consultation, the doctor looks at how thick the fat on your face is and where the laxity sits, and decides which areas the microwave energy should reach.
2
Energy is based on 100,000 J for a full face, and the common options are 60,000 J and 100,000 J, adjusted on the spot to the area and condition of your face.
3
A full face takes about 20–30 minutes. It is almost painless, needs no numbing cream, and you can go straight back to daily life afterward.

Does ONDA Cause Hollow Cheeks? Keep the Fat Under the Cheekbones?

In general, fat reduction with ONDA can leave the cheeks hollow. With good treatment design and more careful technique, though, this can be avoided, and I work to keep the face from hollowing, so there is little need to worry. One key to avoiding it is not treating the whole face as one zone. The area under the cheekbones is one of the places where hollowing tends to show earlier. If there is not much fat there, I avoid reducing it too much and focus on the jowls and double chin. I treat it actively only when there really is a lot of fat under the cheekbones.

ONDA Double Chin in Korea: ONDA Alone, Injections or InMode?

For an ONDA double chin in Korea, look first at the amount and distribution of fat. With a moderate amount of fat and skin laxity, ONDA works well and can be done alone. With too much fat, ONDA alone loses effect, so I add fat-dissolving injections. When the rest of the face has little fat and the fullness is concentrated only in the double chin, InMode can focus the treatment on the chin, so I lean toward InMode.

One ONDA Session in Korea: Travel, Photos and Timing

One ONDA session can be enough; if there is more fat, I recommend repeating it up to 3 times. If you are already traveling to Korea, one ONDA session can fit into the trip. If you would fly in only for this treatment, I think that is too much to build a trip around. You can return to daily activities immediately afterward, but that only describes recovery. It does not mean that photos taken that day show the final contour.
