InMode is a brand name, and treatment contents can differ between clinics. In this article, InMode refers only to the FX + Forma treatment used together in one session at our clinic. FX treats the subcutaneous layer and involves suction; Forma heats skin and subcutaneous tissue with RF. This comparison cannot be applied directly to other devices in the InMode range, and the brand name alone does not make two treatments equivalent.
Watch out: first confirm which InMode treatment you are comparing
Different methods mean different sensations and visible marks
ONDA delivers microwave energy to subcutaneous fat and the dermis. A full-face treatment at our clinic takes about 20–30 minutes depending on the energy and area and usually does not require numbing cream. You can return directly to daily activities, though temporary redness or swelling can occur.
One InMode treatment at our clinic includes FX and Forma and takes about 30–60 minutes depending on the area. Forma mainly feels warm. FX combines suction with RF, so in addition to heat, you will feel the skin being drawn upward. Suction may leave red marks or bruising. This does not happen to everyone, but being able to return to daily activities does not guarantee that there will be no visible marks.
The travel tradeoff is whether you can accept uncertainty about visible marks
If you have wedding photos, an ID photo or an important gathering the next day, or you do not want any suction marks that a camera might capture, include that uncertainty when scheduling InMode. This does not mean InMode requires several days of rest. Daily activities may be possible while red marks or bruising remain visible, and those are separate considerations.
For one week after InMode, avoid saunas, hot baths and exercise that causes heavy sweating. If your trip to Korea includes a heated spa, a long soak or high-intensity exercise, adjust the order of your plans. ONDA is usually easier to fit back into a regular sightseeing schedule. If you are coming to Korea only once, you can also read how to assess one ONDA session.
Use fat distribution to make the final choice
Some people say their concern is a double chin, but looking higher, there is also clear volume from both cheeks across the lower face. In that situation, the most noticeable area under the chin should not be considered alone. If the cheeks as a whole carry volume, I lean toward ONDA and place the overall distribution first in the decision.
Another pattern is having little fat elsewhere on the cheeks, with the volume concentrated mainly under the chin. In this situation, I lean toward InMode, focus the FX treatment area on the double chin and use Forma to heat skin and subcutaneous tissue. This choice has a clear condition and should not be expanded into a rule that everyone with a double chin should choose InMode. If there is too much fat in the double chin, fat-dissolving injections also need to be considered. How to choose between ONDA alone, ONDA with injections and InMode for a double chin is covered in how to choose for an ONDA double chin in Korea.
The contour from InMode is not set after one treatment; it develops gradually across multiple treatments. The final decision considers fat distribution, whether you can accept possible suction marks and whether your schedule can avoid high heat and heavy sweating for one week.
