First separate the FLX device from the genuine tip
To verify genuine fourth-generation Thermage in Korea, first check the device model and then check the tip that will actually be used for your treatment.
The official Solta Korea Thermage FLX product page identifies Thermage FLX as the fourth generation and lists its history of US FDA clearance in 2017 and Korean approval in 2018. At the clinic, check whether the device itself is marked Thermage FLX.
A Korean clinic’s price list or quote does not always name the device. If it only says “RF” or a nickname such as “mini Thermage” and gives no model, ask the clinic to write the actual device name; what you are confirming is Thermage FLX.
Seeing the FLX model does not verify the tip that will be used. The tip is a separate item to check. Before treatment, inspect the unopened genuine package and authentication information, confirm that it is the tip for your treatment, and watch it being opened. Our clinic follows this sequence for every tip box.
The 2002 FDA clearance belongs to the history of the Thermage brand. It cannot prove that the device in front of you is an FLX model or that a particular tip box is genuine. Verifying the equipment and tip being used now still requires the model marking at the clinic and the authentication information for that tip box.
What you can confirm before and after treatment
Korea has its own Solta authenticity verification process. Following the official Korean page, the check uses the 6- or 12-digit authentication number the clinic provides after treatment; what you can see with your own eyes before treatment is the device model and the tip package. So the steps fall into two stages:
Before treatment
- Confirm that the device is marked Thermage FLX.
- Inspect the unopened tip package and authentication information for your treatment, then watch it being opened.
After treatment
- Obtain the 6- or 12-digit authentication number for that tip.
- Enter the number on the official Korean authenticity verification page, or use the mobile QR process, and save the result.
If the number is not found, first check its length, letters, digits and the information entered, then ask the clinic to confirm the details it provided. If it still cannot be verified, use the Solta Korea authenticity support channel. Official support can help confirm authentication details. Whether treatment is suitable, how the energy should be planned and how after-treatment symptoms should be assessed remain medical decisions for the physician who treats you.
For treatment in Korea, use the Korean process
Official portals and support procedures differ between Korea and other countries. For treatment in Korea, use the official Solta Korea page, the authentication number issued in Korea and the Korean support process. For treatment in another country, follow the manufacturer’s local instructions there.
A number issued in Korea should not be judged invalid simply because it does not match a verification screen you know from another country. Likewise, experience with another country’s process cannot replace the official Korean check.
What authenticity verification can and cannot confirm
| What it can confirm | What it cannot prove |
|---|---|
| Whether the model marking visible on the device says Thermage FLX | That the model alone proves the tip used this time has passed authentication |
| The unopened tip package and authentication information provided for this treatment | That every other tip or treatment at the clinic has also been verified |
| Whether the entered 6- or 12-digit authentication number can be found through the official Korean process | That treatment will involve no pain, burn or other risk |
| The tip or authentication code corresponding to this search | The degree of firmness, duration or final result |
Authenticity verification can answer which model is in front of you and whether the authentication details for this tip can be confirmed through the official process. The outcome also depends on your condition, suitability assessment, treatment plan and individual response, so authenticity verification alone cannot determine it.
How to read shot counts and prices
Thermage is measured in shots: 300, 600 and 900 shots for the face, plus separate 225- and 450-shot options for the eye area. Topical anesthesia and the tip are included in the listed prices, which exclude VAT. For each option’s price and how to work out the total including VAT, read Thermage prices in Korea; for what else you can check before booking, read choosing a Thermage clinic in Seoul.
